And you thought the iPhone 15 Pro Max was big! YouTuber builds the world's largest iPhone - measuring over 6.5 FEET tall

With the demand for wider screens and more powerful batteries, there's no denying mobile devices are getting bigger.

But imagine trying to carry around a 6-foot iPhone with you.

That's a dream made into reality by British YouTuber Arun Maini, who has set a new Guinness World Record by building the world's largest smartphone.

The huge device measures 6.74 feet (2.054 metres) tall and weighs as much as 200kg – about the same as a bottlenose dolphin.

Incredibly, the device is fully functional, complete with a touch screen, apps, working camera, 400-watt flashlight, charging port and more.

YouTuber Arun Maini shows off his creation outside the Apple Store in London - a scaled-up version of an iPhone 15 Pro Max

Video shows the YouTuber playing games on the streets of London and getting a friction burn on his finger while scrolling social media.

According to the tech fan, better known as Mrwhosetheboss, he spent more than three months building the machine, which is a scaled-up version of an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

'Every component on the phone has to be fully functional, the screen, cameras, speakers, even the buttons,' said Mr Maini.

'I've no way of exactly measuring it but this iPhone weighs between 150 and 200 kilograms, in part thanks to real brushed aluminum all the way around.

'So you don't want to drop this thing on your face in bed.'

Mr Maini had promised his viewers that he would built the largest iPhone if his YouTube subscriber count surpassed that of Apple's.

(Apple's YouTube subscriber count is 19.3 million, while Maini's pushed past that, reaching 19.4 million.)

Keeping his promise, he worked with Matthew Perks (known as @DIYperks) to make their scaled-up version of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which weighs 221g.

The finished product is so big – over 12 times the size of the original – that it has to be carried around on a wheelable stand.

It features an 88-inch OLED TV for the screen display, which is fully operational as a touchscreen just like any smartphone.

It's capable of opening apps, making phone and video calls, playing videos, listening to music and even selfies, as the YouTuber demonstrates in his video.

As Mr Maini wheels it onto Princes Street in Central London – just around the corner from the Apple Store – members of the public try it out with a few rounds of Flappy Bird, the popular mobile game.

It also has handheld digital cameras sitting where the lenses in a normal-sized smartphone would be.

According to Mr Maini, the giant iPhone's camera system is capable of better video quality and zoom, as well as a wider field-of-view.

'The other benefit of having a phone the size of two humans beings is your selfie camera can see the entire street,' he says in the video.

Mr Maini began uploading content on YouTube in 2011 and has since amassed a large following thanks to his tech reviews.

It's unclear what will be happening to his mammoth creation now, although it certainly won't be appearing on shelves anytime soon.

'Growing up, I would disappear into the library for hours to read the latest Guinness World Records books,' he said.

'So to achieve an award myself feels absolutely surreal.'

World's first handbag-inspired smartphone is revealed: Bizarre foldable device looks like a purse and is decked out in chains, feathers and tassels

Never have enough space to fit a phone in your handbag? Well, your troubles may be soon over thanks to Chinese tech firm Honor.

It unveiled a foldable smartphone that doubles up as a purse, with a shoulder strap and customisable designs that can be changed at the click of a button.

The design is aimed at giving both fashion brands, such as Prada and Luis Vuitton, as well as rival tech giants Apple and Samsung a run for their money.

Honor revealed the concept device - called the Honor V Purse - during its keynote speech titled 'Unfold Tomorrow' at the technology show IFA 2023 in Berlin.

The company said it 'reimagines a foldable smartphone as a wearable, fashion-forward purse that offers endless possibilities for self-expression and sustainable lifestyle'.
