A singer and songwriter, Oladimeji Oyekanmi, aka Sugar, has said that two iconic Nigerian singers— Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and Majek Fashek— inspire him.

The singer stated that both musicians, who are both late, were icons in their time, and he intended to also elevate his music to an iconic level.

He said, “Fela and Majek Fashek inspire me greatly, because they were able to cross multiple boundaries with their music. Before Nigerian music started getting the global acclaim it is presently enjoying, those singers had been known all over the world. Contemporary artistes that inspire me are Davido and Olamide.

“I am dedicated to spreading meaningful messages through my music, because I want to leave a lasting impact on the music industry.”

The singer, who recently released two singles titled, ‘Daily Bread’ and ‘Middle Man’, added, “I want to keep making waves in the music scene, and I aim to carve a niche for myself with my compelling lyrics and infectious rhythms.

“I am set to release a video directed by Sam’s Visuals, and it will be available on various streaming platforms and my social media channels.”
