Liverpool vs West Ham: Preview
Two teams who've had roller-coaster seasons, but at either end of the table, clash at Anfield as Liverpool look to remain firmly in the top 4 race and West Ham look to leapfrog Nottingham Forest (who play tomorrow) and get out of the relegation zone. The place West Ham are visiting to do that, though, isn't a happy hunting ground. Quite the opposite, in fact: they've won just three of their top-flight visits to Anfield over the years, and only of those (August 2015) has come since 1963!
They really don't like playing Liverpool -- of their last 19 encounters away and home, they've won just once. What they have going for them, though, is current form. Over the last six league games, they've won 11 points, as much as they had over the past 18. Liverpool are going alright too -- losing just two of their last 20 -- even if they have been delivering unconvincing performances. What's saved them, like last weekend, are late goals: they've scored three injury time winners this season, the most of any side. Currently sixth, they are level on points with Chelsea (who play Arsenal tomorrow) and three behind Manchester United and will want a win to keep their momentum going.
Will they need late magic to keep their run against West Ham going? Or can Nuno Espirito Santo manufacture another stunning performance at Anfield like he did with Nottingham Forest last season? We'll find out soon enough.
