Motorola unveils a bedazzled Razr flip phone that is encrusted with Swarovski crystals - the ULTIMATE phone for nostalgic millennials

It was the must–have phone of the early 2000s, featured in films and TV shows like 'The Devil Wears Prada', 'A Good Year', 'Prison Break' and 'Lost'.

Now, more than 20 years after the Motorola Razr first launched, it's back – with a sparkly twist.

Motorola has joined forces with Swarovski on a modern version of the Razr that is encrusted with crystals.

Part of the 'Brilliant Collection', the phone has been launched alongside a pair of wireless Moto Buds Loop earphones, which are also decked out in sparkly stones.

'This debut collection brings together the motorola razr and moto buds loop, encrusted with crystals by Swarovski, in a radiant showcase of how fashion and function can shine in perfect harmony,' Motorola explained.

Unfortunately for nostalgic millennials, this dream phone comes with a much heftier price tag than the original.

While the 2004 Razr was priced at $499–$599, today's Swarovski version has an eye–watering $999.99 price–tag.

So, would you be willing to splash the cash for a bedazzled flip phone?

The original Motorola Razr was released in 2004, and became one of the most iconic flip phones of all time

The original Motorola Razr was released in 2004, and became one of the most iconic flip phones of all time.

At just 13.9mm, it was the thinnest mobile phone on the market at the time, and its sleek design elevated it over the other flip phones of the era.

The V3 came in multiple colours including a hot pink, and Motorola even teamed up with Dolce and Gabbana to create a limited edition gold version.

While its futuristic luminescent keypad did make it stand out, the device also received a leg–up by being featured in numerous movies and TV shows.

Much to the delight of its fans, Motorola revived the Razr in 2019, and has released several new versions since – the latest being the version in the Brilliance Collection.

Like the original, the new Razr features a clamshell design that folds in half vertically.

However, while the 2004 Razr had a keyboard on the bottom half when unfolded, the new version is all screen.

When it's folded, users can see their notifications on a 3.6–inch front display.

When the phone is unfurled, the main display opens out to measure an impressive 6.9–inches

In terms of cameras, users can enjoy a 32MP front camera (ideal for selfies), and a dual rear camera including a 50MP main lens, and a 13MP ultrawide lens.

Users can also enjoy a range of AI feature, dubbed Moto AI, including photo editing tools, image stabilisation, and personalised wallpapers.

However, what makes this device really stand out is its crystal detailing.

The back of the device features a shimmering leather–inspired finish in a 3D quilted pattern, studded with Swarovski crystals.

The hinge features a larger cystal with 26 facets, while even the volume keys feature a crystal–inspired design.

'The iconic razr design has always turned heads – now every crystal elevates its instantly recognisable silhouette, transforming it into a couture creation that radiates confidence and commands attention from every angle,' Motorola explained.

As if the bling level wasn't already high enough, the earbuds are also adorned with crystals, meaning they almost look like earrings

Unfortunately, the UK pricing and availability is yet to be confirmed.

However, the device is already available in the US, priced at $999.99.
