Ten officers from the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) were arrested on Monday for alleged corruption.
News24 confirmed that of those arrested, six are from the EMPD and four are from the Tsakane police station.
The officers are accused of illegally confiscating cigarettes worth R150 000, stealing R35 000 in cash and seizing three packs of Panado worth close to R5 000.
They allegedly only booked in the cheap cigarettes and failed to do so with the expensive ones. They also neglected to book in the Panados.
Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) investigators arrested the officers at the Edenvale police station on Monday.
