Almost 120 fires broke out in Table Mountain National Park in just one year – 35 more than in the previous 12 months, the park has said.

TMNP used more than 533 hours of active flying and 6 318 litres of water to suppress the fires.

In April and May of this year, TMNP responded to 32 fires, including five "multi-day fires".
