The likelihood of a collapsing relationship between the EFF and the ANC has been met with political optimism from ActionSA and the DA - the two political parties that previously governed key Gauteng metros that were overrun by a return of the ANC.
ActionSA and the DA both looked with glee at any news of the ANC changing its mind on its alliance with the EFF, but the two parties remain far removed on the political strategy.
The DA plans to proceed with a motion to dissolve the Joburg council on 2 November. The Joburg City Council needs a majority of councillors to support the motion for it to succeed, leading to fresh elections in the metro.
