Despite many protestations and technical arguments around the legality of electing the City of Tshwane's first deputy mayor, ActionSA candidate Dr Nasiphi Moya has been elected unopposed.
A special Tshwane council meeting was held on Thursday, specifically for the election of the deputy mayor, a newly created position the council approved in late 2023.
Despite the election being the main item on the agenda, the meeting got off to a slow start as the EFF had a query about ActionSA's candidate choice.
