After studying for four years, about 100 University of Fort Hare students discovered their speech therapy qualification might not be worth the paper it was written on. 

The students completed their studies in 2022 and 2023 but are yet to graduate because the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) does not recognise the qualification. 

The HPCSA confirmed it was aware of the issue.
