An ANC ward councillor was gunned down in Photsaneng village, outside Rustenburg, on Friday night.
North West police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said 54-year-old Poppy Morapedi had been shot while walking home with a relative.
The two had been returning from the local shop when they were approached by a gunman who fired two shots at them, Mokgwabone said.
