The
Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is conducting a probe after
a man sought for the murder of an on-duty Atlantis police officer was shot dead
on Thursday when he refused to surrender.
IPID spokesperson Phaladi Shuping said: "It is alleged that the Provincial Crime Combat Unit received information that a suspect who allegedly killed a police officer on Wednesday was hiding in the bushes in the Mamre area."
