A suspected cable thief was electrocuted and another was severely injured in East London.

The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday.

The police and Buffalo City Metro officials were called when community members and motorists spotted the alleged thieves next to a streetlight on Settlers Way – a strategic road in East London, which was recently upgraded to the tune of R500 million.
