Western Cape police have arrested a 27-year-old man for reckless and negligent driving after he knocked down two cyclists on Thursday along Main Road, Glencairn.

The driver didn't stop and sped off.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie said a 26-year-old man sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital.

"According to reports, the driver of a VW [white] Polo knocked into the victim and drove off. The victim was taken to a medical facility for treatment. A 27-year-old man was arrested," said Pojie.

Police said the suspect will appear in the Simon’s Town Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. 

A video posted on social media shows the two cyclists riding behind each other on the side of the main road when a white vehicle speeds past, knocking them down.
