After days of heavy rainfall in the Western Cape, an estimated 9 000 people are expected to receive aid amid ensuing flooding in multiple suburbs in Cape Town.

Gift of the Givers Foundation operations manager Ali Sablay said the homes of the recipients were flooded.

"The calls have been pouring in as communities from various informal settlements are pleading for assistance. The number of those affected increases by the hundreds every hour," he said.
