A priest was murdered at a Limpopo church on Wednesday - just hours after three monks were killed in Gauteng.

The 38-year-old Roman Catholic Church priest was shot inside a church in Aqua Park, Tzaneen, on Wednesday at about 07:00, police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said. His identity has been withheld because police are still notifying his next of kin.

"Initial findings suggest that following a morning prayer session with members of the church, the victim proceeded to the changing room where he was followed by an unknown male suspect. Tragically, the suspect shot the priest twice in the head before fleeing the scene," Ledwaba said.
