US trade representative Katherine Tai has acknowledged that her country and SA navigated some "choppy waters" this year in their relationship. However, both economic and interpersonal ties between the two countries remain strong.
Speaking to journalists at a media roundtable on Saturday, just ahead of the closing ceremony of the African Growth Opportunities Act (AGOA) forum held in Nasrec, Tai declined to respond specifically on the issue of SA's perceived close relationship with Russia and whether it had strained relationships with Washington.
