The DA will not "hesitate to pursue legal action against any individual, group or political party found employing malicious tools to propagate fake, defamatory or fraudulent content", the party warned on Sunday.
The warning came after the DA's Glynnis Breytenbach fell prey to a bizarre piece of disinformation on TikTok.
Last month, News24 reported on the video by a TikTok user, with the moniker BobbyGreenhash, which had been doing the rounds. In it, he presented a voice recording, which he claimed was leaked audio of Breytenbach, and presented it as an explanation for why "NASA planes" had been flying over Cape Town.
