The fraud investigation into Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Gary van Niekerk has halted due to unresolved issues about the election of a chairperson for the investigative committee.
The committee must present its first report to the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality council next Thursday, but that seems unlikely as no work has been done.
This is despite the committee meeting at least five times since the beginning of last week to commence the investigation.
