Overberg High School pupil Deveney Nel was killed in 2024.
The teen who killed Grade 10 Overberg High School pupil Deveney Nel was sentenced to an effective 25 years in prison by the Western Cape High Court on Friday.
According to information News24 obtained, the 18-year-old was sentenced in accordance with a plea and sentencing agreement with the State.
The teen, who cannot be named in terms of the Children’s Act, was found guilty of murder and defeating the ends of justice.

Hours after she went missing, Nel was found dead in a storage room on the school grounds in August 2024.
