Earlier this month, media personality Amor Vittone and her new partner, Marius van Biljon, went official, sharing some of their happy festive moments with thousands of fans.
Shortly after, Amor, the former wife of late rugby legend Joost van der Westhuizen, told News24 that she was simply “in love” with her new beau, Marius. The popular radio personality was married to late model Shannon van Biljon, who was crowned Mrs Pretoria Tshwane in 2023.

Shannon died in 2025 after a brief illness. Three months later, Amor and Marius met at Captain’s Island, a family restaurant owned by Marius in Pretoria, where Amor was scheduled to perform.
A short while later, she returned to the restaurant, this time scoring a dance with the widower, deciding then and there that she wanted to spend more time with him.
“Everyone said there was definitely a vibe,” Amor shared during a recent interview with Jacaranda FM’s Martin Bester, where she appeared alongside Marius. She added, “We really get along and complement one another. We fill each other.”
For Marius, moving forward after the loss of his wife was a challenging journey. Speaking to Martin, he explained that his strong faith was what kept him going.
He also emphasised the importance of being with someone who would honour his late wife’s memory.
“I needed someone who was going to celebrate Shannon’s life,” he said. “She was a powerhouse, and she needed another powerhouse woman to honour her memory.”
The couple’s relationship has faced criticism from both Joost’s fans and those questioning how Marius could move on so soon after his wife’s death.
Addressing this candidly, Marius stated, “I was honest with Amor from the start. I told her number one in my life is God, and then you.”
He continued, “Everybody grieves differently. I am strong in the Lord, and he helped me get through the process.”
Marius added, “I don’t have time to waste. You have to be honest and vulnerable. We have a lot in common; we’ve both gone through losses.”
Amor echoed her partner’s sentiments, describing Marius as “strong, grounded and having a beautiful spirit.”
