30.

Johannesburg Water issued a statement on Wednesday saying it was informed in the afternoon that Rand Water, its bulk water supplier, had experienced a complete power outage at approximately 10:30.

Rand Water’s Eikenhof pumping station suffered a total power outage on Wednesday morning.

Eikenhof supplies two-thirds of Johannesburg with water, and the power outage will affect the systems provided by the booster pump station.

Systems supplied by Eikenhof “are expected to experience reduced inflows and possible low pressure or intermittent supply over the next several hours”, Johannesburg Water said in a statement on Wednesday.

As of 15:00, there was no estimated time for power restoration.

Rand Water teams are on site, and according to Johannesburg Water, they would provide updates as soon as the supply had been restored.
