The Eastern Cape Department of Education has suspended embattled Dale College headmaster Craig Hatches.

The suspension follows allegations of financial mismanagement and maladministration at the prestigious Qonce-based boys’ school.

The department’s spokesperson, Mali Mtima, confirmed the suspension, which comes after the completion of a preliminary investigation report into the allegations.

Hatches, who was appointed to the position in June 2024, has been at the centre of the allegations.
