Eastern Cape farmers have welcomed the launch of the Livestock Identification and Traceability System (LITS) to fight stock theft, but they are unconvinced that the tags alone would stop their animals from being stolen.
The Eastern Cape government launched the system in Lujecweni Village in Tsolo on Tuesday.
LITS is a technology-based ear-tag gadget which the provincial government is delivering to 120 cattle farming enterprises across the Eastern Cape.
