Eight Milnerton High School pupils, aged 17 to 18, are expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

This follows an attack on a 16-year-old Grade 10 pupil.

Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the charge to News24.

In a video which has since gone viral, pupils can be seen using a hosepipe, belt, hockey stick, and wooden stick to beat the Grade 10 pupil while he begs them to stop.

Sources close to the investigation told News24 the accused pupils had handed themselves over to the police on Thursday morning.
