The controversial Electoral Matters Amendment Act came into effect on Wednesday, leaving an enormous hole in the statute book that allows political parties to rake in unlimited and undeclared donations.

However, this hole should be plugged in the National Assembly on Thursday.

On Tuesday, the Presidency announced that President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the controversial Electoral Matters Amendment Bill. He signed the bill on Saturday. On Wednesday, a Government Gazette was issued with Ramaphosa's proclamation, stating that the act shall come into effect on the same day.
