News24 | Eskom graft accused Michael Lomas granted R2 million bail

10 hours ago 2

Eskom graft accused Michael Lomas, 77, has been granted bail of R2 million in the Gauteng High Court Johannesburg.

His lawyer, Mannie Witz, said the matter had been postponed until 20 July 2026, when the trial would commence.

Last month, investigating officer Lieutenant Colonel Dereck du Plessis said it was "plain and clear" that Lomas had "fabricated his version or reasons to try and explain why he fled South Africa" and was "caught out with his fabrication".

The State argued that Lomas fled the country in the face of his looming prosecution. But Lomas - a British national - previously told the court that he was in South Africa at the time to "do several things", including selling a property.
