Firefighters are still battling a fire on Simonsberg in Stellenbosch which continues to burn out of control, while fires that were raging on Papegaaiberg, also in Stellenbosch, and Michell's Pass near Ceres have been brought under control.
Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) spokesperson, Anesca Roodt, said the number of fires their teams have responded to is at least 24 over the weekend.
"Our dedicated teams remain vigilant and proactive in their efforts to protect lives, livelihoods, and property," she stressed.
