The City of Cape Town's fire department has contained the fire that ripped through 51 structures at an informal settlement in Nyanga.
Spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said it was not yet clear how many people were affected.
"The cause of the fire is unknown and, fortunately, no injuries were reported or lives lost," he said.
