While the cost of flooding in coastal provinces over the last week still has to be calculated, it is likely to run into billions, based on initial estimates.

Severe weather in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape left more than 20 people dead and damaged infrastructure in several towns.

The Nelson Mandela Bay metro will have to fork out just over R1 billion for damages caused by the floods, which claimed the lives of 10 people in the city.
