The lawyer for a former Crime Intelligence officer convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend with his police gun argued that he should only be sentenced to 10 years in prison and that he would be rehabilitated by the end of that period.
However, the State argued for nothing less than life.
Thando Faku was found guilty in September of shooting Wendy Papu in the head on her couch in her home in Khayelitsha on 10 January 2019. They had broken up, and she had moved to her own place two days earlier.
