ActionSA has unveiled Xolani Khumalo as its mayoral candidate for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

ActionSA has unveiled Xolani Khumalo, former TV star and anti-crime crusader, as its mayoral candidate for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

Party president Herman Mashaba made the announcement on Saturday.

“A son of the soil. A man of the people. A leader who has walked these streets with you, who has fought crime with you. Who will now take that fight into the halls of power and clean out the rot,” Mashaba said.

In April, the former Moja Love presenter walked out of the Palm Ridge Regional Court a free man after charges of murder, robbery and malicious damage to property against him were provisionally withdrawn.

Khumalo and his television crew were charged with murdering alleged drug dealer Robert Varrie, 49, in July 2023.
