A team of detectives investigating fraud and corruption at the University of Fort Hare battled an accused's facial recognition feature for 20 days to unlock a cellphone and access what they believe is crucial evidence.

This was revealed on Wednesday in the Alice Magistrate's Court, sitting in Dimbaza, in the Eastern Cape when two of the 15 accused appeared to hear whether they had been granted bail.

Terrence Joubert of Tarlec Security Solutions and celebrity bodyguard Anwar Khan of Pentagon Group have been pleading with the court to release them on bail.
