The student representative council (SRC) at the University of Fort Hare is challenging the university management to explain where the security guards were when a screaming Lubabalo Ngula was dragged across campus grounds and tortured to death over a missing laptop.
The horrific scenes played out around 03:00 on Sunday at the university's Alice campus.
Six students - Monelisi Sodidi, 21, Lindokuhle Ndlebe, 25, Aphelel Qongqo, 21, Nkanyiso Nzimakhwe, 21, Siphosethu Nkomo, 25, and Mosuli Mgilane, 21 - made a brief appearance in the Alice Magistrate's Court on Monday in connection with Ngula’s murder.
