Four suspected cash-in-transit robbers were killed in a shootout with police in Camperdown, outside Pietermaritzburg, during the early hours of Thursday.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the incident and said provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi was on his way to the scene.
According to a well-placed source at the scene, three firearms were recovered.
