The South Africa Weather Service has issued several warnings of severe thunderstorms and rain leading to localised flooding in the Eastern Cape, North West, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal.
Damaging winds leading to localised damage are also expected in parts of the Eastern Cape.
Impact-based warnings
Orange Level 5 warning: Severe thunderstorms leading to flooding, damage to settlements, property, vehicles and infrastructure are expected in places over the central and northern interior of the Eastern Cape.
Yellow Level 2 warning: Severe thunderstorms leading to localised damage to settlements, property, vehicles and disruption to power supply are expected in places over the Eastern Cape, except in the extreme east.
Yellow Level 2 warning: Disruptive rainfall leading to localised damage to settlements, property, vehicles and disruption to power supply are expected in places over eastern North West, Gauteng, Mpumalanga Highveld as well as the extreme north-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
Yellow Level 2 warning: Damaging winds leading to localised damage to settlements, property, vehicles, disruption of harbours and ports and difficulty in navigation at sea are expected in places along the coast between Oyster Bay and Coffee Bay, as well as over Kouga Local Municipality and the Nelson Mandela Bay metro in the Eastern Cape.
