The Cape Flats Safety Forum breathed a sigh of relief on the sentencing of drug dealers Fadwaan Murphy and his ex-wife, Shafieka Murphy, for operating a business that packaged tik.
"At least a message has been sent to fellow distributors," said its chairperson, Abie Isaacs. "We need to be applying the letter of the law."
This follows Murphy's sentencing on Friday to 18 years in prison for packaging and dealing in almost 9kg of methamphetamine, known locally as tik, and helping to put the Cape Town on the map as the "drug haven" of the country.
