For 12 heartbreaking years, a grieving Gqeberha mother wanted nothing more than to hold her missing son in her arms again. The teen finally tracked down his mother and the two made plans to spend Christmas together this year, but they were just a little too late because she lost her battle with cancer last month.

Mohammed Orif, 18, who last saw his mother Baranese Orif when he was 5-years-old, was three weeks too late.

Mohammed's mysterious disappearance made headlines in 2011 when he was allegedly abducted by his Egyptian father and taken to Egypt without his mother's consent.
