Some Western Cape schools are still requesting additional information from parents seeking admission for their children in Grade 1 and Grade 8 next year, despite the provincial education department labelling the practice unlawful.

Online applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 enrolment next year opened on Monday, while the application process for Grade R will only open on 1 August, much to the anger of parents.

News24 has seen documents, titled "expression of interest" and "declaration of interest", which Paul Roos Gimnasium and Parel Vallei High schools gave to applicants seeking admission for their children in Grade 8 next year.
