On 8 March 2019, old-time criminal, and gangster "Ntera" was supposed to celebrate his birthday at his house in Site B, Khayelitsha.

His guests were at his house listening to music, enjoying drinks, and waiting for the man of the moment to arrive.

But Ntera was not having a good day. He was in an extortion gang called The Guptas, which operated in some of Cape Town's most densely populated suburbs. They were a breakaway gang from the Boko Harams.
