The first arrests effected since a string of kidnappings plagued Nelson Mandela Bay last year are now null and void after the Hawks in the Eastern Cape released the suspects, despite two of them being at the scene where the latest victim was found.

The Hawks made a breakthrough after Lu Xiao was rescued from a house in Missionvale on Tuesday. He was the seventh victim to be abducted in the metro since the beginning of the year. 

Two men and a woman were arrested.
