Following years of delays, the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has ordered that former Crime Intelligence (CI) boss Richard Mdluli's fraud and corruption trial will start in October.

According to Investigating Directorate spokesperson Henry Mamothame, the High Court ordered that the trial should commence irrespective of Mdluli's pending bid to compel the police to pay his legal fees.

News24 previously reported Mduli signalled his intention to review the police's decision to refuse him legal funding for the court case.
