When a dangerous intruder invaded a Cape Town apartment building, Tyrone Ping decided to come to the residents' assistance. As he snaked his way through the city, he was stopped by two traffic officers for using his cellphone while driving.

When Ping showed the officers a photo of the intruder he was on his way to catch, instead of giving Ping a fine they gave him a blue-light escort to the apartment block in Sea Point where the intruder, an enraged female puff adder, was slithering around.

Detailing his dramatic entrance to the property in Barkly Road, Ping, a renowned reptile handler, jokingly told News24 he was still trying to process the fact that traffic cops had escorted him to catch a snake last Wednesday.
