Security company owner and underworld murder-accused Andre Naudé was shot dead in Parow, Cape Town, on Thursday.
Safety and security mayoral committee member JP Smith told News24 that Naudé died at the scene of the shooting on Voortrekker Road in Parow, and that he had deployed members of his team there.
According to sources, Naudé was with his bodyguard at the time.
His body, covered with a sheet, lay on the road next to a dark grey double cab bakkie with the door on the driver’s side open.

Curious bystanders watched from the roadside and a nearby balcony.
A neighbourhood watch in Parow advised residents to avoid the area as road closures were in place following the shooting outside a supermarket on the corner of Voortrekker Road and Giel Basson Drive.
Comment from the police will be added once received.
Naudé’s co-accused and alleged Sexy Boys gang boss Jerome ‘Donkie’ Booysen stood on the sidelines behind the crime scene tape, shaking his head.
“I am shocked,” he told News24. “He was a friend.”

An employee of a nearby store who heard the gunfire said he had initially thought it was a vehicle backfiring.
“I just heard, ‘Gwa!’ This is a busy road, so I thought it was coming from a car. When I went to look, I saw that man lying there.”
Naudé had previously alleged in November that there had been an attempt on his life while he was driving on the N1 towards Paarl. Police did not confirm the attack at the time.
The underworld was abuzz following the apparent hit.
One gang source said:
Jirre, they are falling like flies. Just look who is left standing in the ‘Steroid King’ murder. The accused are all being killed one by one.
He was referring to the accused in the trial for the murder of Brian Wainstein, who was implicated in illegal steroid sales.
Another informed source said: “Andre was shot because he had beef with his bra (friend),” but stopped short of revealing who this “bra” was.
An insider with close ties to the protection services scene said:
There was talk of an ugly disagreement over Lifman’s money (debtors book).
Naudé had been on trial in the Western Cape High Court with the late underworld figure and businessman Mark Lifman, Booysen and 10 other co-accused for the murder of Wainstein in 2017.
News24 reported that according to the indictment in the Wainstein trial, Lifman, Booysen, Booysen’s brother, Colin, and Naudé were in a “brotherhood” that controlled nightclub and restaurant security in the Cape Town CBD.
Lifman was shot dead in a parking lot at Garden Route Mall in George in November last year; Gert Bezuidenhout and Johannes Hendrik Jacobs were arrested in connection with the murder shortly afterwards. They remain in custody after their bail appeal was denied.
It has been a violent journey to the Wainstein trial following Lifman’s arrest in December 2020, including co-accused being killed in the lead up to the trial, which eventually started in April last year.
