Jeffrey Donson has been suspended.
The turmoil facing the Independent Civic Organisation of South Africa (Icosa) has deepened after its national executive committee (NEC) made a U-turn on the suspension of its leader, Jeffrey Donson, who is also the mayor of the embattled Kannaland Municipality.
Donson and his son, Vlancio, were suspended from the party for gross misconduct and were given 48 hours to state why they should remain in the party.
In a letter given to the pair on Friday evening, Icosa's provincial leadership formally informed them of their suspension, pending a disciplinary hearing.
