The leadership of the Independent Civic Organisation of South Africa (Icosa) approached the Western Cape High Court in a bid to finally oust its leader, Jeffrey Donson, and his son, Vlancio.

In its notice of motion filed earlier this week, the party wants the court to declare both Donsons' continued occupation as Icosa office bearers as unconstitutional, unlawful, and null and void.

Donson's appointment as mayor drew sharp criticism after it emerged he was convicted of the statutory rape and indecent assault of a 15-year-old girl while he was the mayor of Kannaland in 2008.
