Fifteen toilets are said to have been built for a single household in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal.

Fifteen toilets are said to have been built for a single household in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal.

In a province where nearly 50% of homes have no flushing toilets, the IFP-led uThukela District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal allegedly built 15 outside toilets for a single rural home and, by its own account, the municipality has no answers as to how this happened.

Municipal spokesperson Nothile Zwane did not dispute the number of toilets built on the one property in Ladysmith's Ward 10 and said the municipality was investigating the matter.
