Western Cape police deployed the K9 Unit to Middelpos in Saldanha Bay at the weekend after residents reported a pungent smell coming from bushes in the area.
It has been more than two months since the six-year-old disappeared from her family home in Middelpos on 19 February.
Her mother, Racquel "Kelly" Smith, has since been arrested and charged along with three others - Jacquin Appolis, Kelly's boyfriend, Stevano van Rhyn, and Lourencia Lombaard - for kidnapping and human trafficking related to Joshlin's disappearance.
