Justice Minister Ronald Lamola has signed off on an extradition request for two men believed to be connected to the murder of rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and his friend, Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane.

In a statement, the Department of Justice and Correctional Services confirmed that Lamola had "approved and transmitted a request by South Africa for the extradition" of Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande from Eswatini.

The request was made in terms of a 1968 extradition treaty between South Africa and Eswatini and in terms of the 2002 SADC Protocol on Extradition, to which both countries are signatories, said department spokesperson Chrispin Phiri.
