Ex-rugby player turned repo man Zane Kilian was put on the spot over where he got the estimated R500 000 to pay the lawyers who tried, and are still trying, to get him out on bail before the trial for the murder of Anti-Gang Unit cop Charl Kinnear starts next year.

Kilian seemed slightly irritable over delays at the Western Cape High Court on Wednesday, possibly because it would be a wasted day of costs for his two new lawyers due to delays caused mainly by an earlier pre-trial appearance with his co-accused, Nafiz Modack.

He said he could not know how much his father paid and who it was paid to, because he was sitting in prison. He has already testified that he sold everything in his house that was not bolted down to raise money, as well as the house and his car.
