Four bodies have been discovered in a stream in Botshabelo, Free State.

- Free State police are searching for unknown killers after recovering four bodies within metres of each other.
- Police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele said the bodies were found in a stream near the Sepone River in Botshabelo between 22 January and 1 February.
- Police said they are investigating four murder charges.
The discovery of bodies in a stream in Botshabelo, Free State, has prompted a search for the unknown killers, says police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele.
Makhele said police recovered four bodies, one beheaded, between 22 January and 1 February.
Makhele said the bodies of two men and two women were found metres apart. The first body of an unidentified man aged between 45 and 50 had multiple stab wounds in the thighs and chest, he said.
His throat was slit, and his feet and hands were tied to small sandbags.
Another victim was Lebohang Julia Khutsoane, whose decapitated body was found near the Sepone River with two stab wounds.

Makhele said the police investigated her disappearance immediately after her family reported her missing after a short trip to the mall.
Police found the third body 50 metres from the first scene. Makhele said the unidentified body was attached to bags filled with stones, which were used to prevent it from floating.
Similarly, the fourth body was also tied up, not far from where the other bodies were discovered.
Makhele said the police suspected that the killers collected the stones from a nearby railway.
Investigators have made no arrests yet, and it is unclear if the incidents are related.
"Four cases of murder were opened in Selosesha and are under investigation. A team of skilled investigators is assigned to trace and arrest suspects involved in the gruesome murders," said Makhele.
